Kaipupu Point Mainland Island Society
Kaipupu Point Mainland Island Society was incorporated in 2005 and work began to establish a mainland sanctuary with cooperation of Community, Te Atiawa and foundation partners Port Marlborough and the Department of Conservation.
The Society’s long term goal for the area has been to establish a sanctuary through the eradication of introduced plant and animal pests. Our pest proof fence acts as a line of defense and has helped Kaipupu become predator free. Moving forwards our focus in on the restoration of the natural ecosystems; and the repopulation of native birds and indigenous flora and fauna. Our volunteers and community are a vital part of our project, and we share this incredible sanctuary with education groups and visitors. |
